Hello everyone!!
I apologize for my absence, but Richard has been adding new things to our computer and disconnecting it in order to get his office set up. I'm happy to report that it is looking great! I'm just happy it's less messy and I can get started on my own room!!
Okay, here is an update since my last entry....
I met with Shannon, who will be my employer in September. I will be taking care of her daughter, Abi, who is just about to head into toddlerhood. I have to say that working for a military family is very beneficial as they understand when you need to take time off to travel half way around the world to be with your loved one when they get their leave time. It's nice, too, that she is a teacher beacause that means proper Christmas and March break time off. Besides that, they are a wonderful family and I am looking forward to helping Abi grow into a confident and curious preschooler.
Training for the summer camp went very well. I am working with two girls (younger than myself), named Robin and Chelsie.
Then came the CANADA DAY WEEKEND!!!! I was volunteering for a Civic Centre and Base combination event. There was a bouncy castle, face painting, tatooing, a water slide, canoe and kayak rides, and games set up all over the emerald necklace. 2,000 people showed up. My job was to run around taking pictures of people, looking particularily patriotic, having a good time. It was great!! That night Rich and I headed over to Mark and Shannons for a barbeque and later, to see the fireworks. I made this wicked-assed cake (if I do say so myslef) that was very patriotic. Angel food cake, with a layer of whipped cream and strawberries, topped with whipped cream and a maple leaf made of strawberries. Ask anybody...it rocked. (okay, it was my first time bringing anything to a potluck!)
After that I have worked all week. It has been pretty tough. The kids are pretty energetic and don't listen at all. Well, I wanted a challenge!!
Tomorrow I am off to Ottawa. I am dying to do the tourist thing, but I'm afraid it will be raining. Maybe I can convince Rich to let me go off to Salsa. Wish me luck!!
