Welcome to the end of the weekend. I have spent a total of 6 hours standing in the hot sun selling buttons at the main gate of the Petawawa Civic Centre to help raise money for the town and its functions. I met some really great people and had the opportunity to put myslelf out there for more community functions. Hopefully, something will come of it.
Not much else is going on. It is extremely hot today so I have decided to stay inside playing games on the playstation. Richard is in Ottawa (the big city!) today, so I finally have a chance to play what I want to play. I stopped off at the video store to ensure I had something that is just mine to have fun with. He says he wants to share the games he plays so we can play them together but I think it's a clever ploy to get his own way. No pulling the wool over this girls eyes!
The breifing was pretty interesting. Mostly it was information on Afghanistan, what the people are like, the environment, the weather, where the boys will be staying and what they will have to do there...that kind of stuff. I want to know what it is like for the families there. If I remember correctly (which is pretty rare!) there are over 17,000 refugees. My heart goes out to them. Just like the turtles, I can't save all of them either. Breaks my heart. I asked Rich to keep a finger on the pulse of what kinds of things I might send to give to the kids. It is going to be an interesting experience and I will keep you posted as the months go by.
I meet with my future employer tomorrow, then have camp training on Wednesday to Friday. The job starts next week. I'm excited, but I am sure going to miss these lazy days.
Still gathering lot's of ideas for my book. There are so many interesting things and people in my everyday life that would bring so much intrigue to my plot. Although, I'm still working on the plot!
