Thursday June 5th - 9:03 p.m.
Another new day here in Petawawa. Although it was raining it turned out to be one of the nicest days I have had here. One of my neighbours suggested that I volunteer at the blood donor clinic held on base today. From 12 until 5 I served up juice, cookies, a sweet smile and some pretty bad jokes to the people coming off the lounge chairs. I met a lot of great people, but the most interesting were the ones I was working with. One is a community counselor who has offered me a seat to take over for a few months. There is a lot for me to learn and I will be sitting in on a meeting next Tuesday. I can't tell you how excited I am about that. I also picked up some leads to some other volunteer work as well as a possible job offer that will run until the camp starts. I'll find out about that on Monday. Keep your fingers crossed!
In older news, my slo-pitch team won yesturday 4-3. It's our fist win!! We were solid on the field holding a 3 up 3 down record for almost every inning. We were also down a player and had to take an automatic out every 3rd inning. Despite the handicap we managed to score the runs in the top of the last inning with yours truly batting in an RBI. Go team go!!
Next week I will be stopping at various places around base to take pictures in order to give everyone an idea of where I live. It really is beautiful and unique and I would like to share that with all of you. The only glich is finding the software that will allow me to do so, but I'm working on it.
Yellow has been spending more time with her canine neighbours and has actually started playing like a puppy from time to time. Those who know Yellow well know that she is all about the ball and doesn't quite realize other dogs exist, so this is a bit of a breakthrough for her. We have discovered a fantastic swimming hole and have been spending most of our time basking in the sun and retrieving sticks....well, not both of us.
